API 579 Fitness For Service
- This course presents the general methodology of Risk Based Inspection, identifies the key elements of an RBI program, and discusses how to implement an RBI program. The course will include a discussion on identification of API RP 571 damage mechanisms, API 510/ 570/ 653 inspection methodologies, risk management, and risk mitigation strategies. Requirements for input data and information, and the roles of the RBI Assessment Team will be described. Approaches to levels of RBI assessment and basis for implementation will be examined.
Learning Outcomes
- The course gives insight of piping design, fabrication installation and testing of new process piping according to ASME B 31.3. The course further dwells upon the concepts of Fitness for Service.
- A Fitness for Service assessment shows whether damaged or aged components critically affect the present fitness of a piping system for a safe use. And if it is safe, it provides an estimate of how long it is likely to stay safe.
